Published this summer by Brazos is my new book Beauty for Truth's Sake. The reason I
am plugging it here is that, slight as it is, it summarizes a lot of the best current work by people like Charles Taylor and Alasdair MacIntyre on what has
gone wrong with modern culture and how to heal it. The answer lies, of course, in education - the kind of integral humanistic education that the Pope is
calling for. In the spirit of ressourcement, I try to reclaim a tradition going back to Pythagoras, which lies behind the Liberal Arts and all Western
university education. If we want to put our fragmented universe back together, we need to heal the divorce between maths and the sciences on the one hand, and
the arts and humanities on the other. We can do that if we learn to focus once more on the "Logos" that holds all things together in harmony. I have
started a Blog on "Beauty-in-education" where you can go for further information and
discussion.
